Nendo was founded in 2002 as a design company, by Oki Sato (born in Canada in 1977, degree in architecture from Waseda University, Tokyo).
With offices in Tokyo and Milan, the firm in active in various fields, from architecture to interior design, product design to graphics. It has won many honors, including a special mention in the Design Report of the Salone Satellite of Milan in 2003, a nomination for Best furnishing element in the I.D. Annual Design Review (USA), the Red Dot Award (Germany) and a Good Design Award (Japan). In 2006-07 Oki Sato was selected by Newsweek as one of the "top 100 Japanese people working overseas" and nendo was indictated as one of the "100 small businesses to watch on a global level".
Thanks to the international acclaim obtained with the bloomroom, an installation for Milan Design Week in 2006, the firm has launched new products every year, with important companies like Cappellini, De Padova, Guzzini, Oluce and Council.
