AJ Eklipta was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959 for Rødovre City Hall. For this project, two different sizes were manufactured: Ø350mm and Ø450mm. They were used indoors by staircases and outdoors as wall lamps. Later a Ø220mm version was designed for St Catherine’s College in England. When Arne Jacobsen himself used the fixture for staircases, he always preferred the larger version. Today the fixture is used all over the world in a range of architectural contexts.
