J16 Rocking Chair
Designed in 1944, Wegner 's J16 Rocking Chair with its sensually curved arms was inspired traditional Windsor and Shaker furniture. In his chair design, Wegner stressed the importance of freedom of movement and ergonomics – as epitomized by the rocking chair.
Hans J. Wegner designed many rocking chairs over the years, but the J16 from Fredericia Furniture is considered the most classic. Hans J. Wegner showed an early interest in the rocking chair as a design object and the J16 was one of his first chairs put into production for FDB, with help from Danish designer Børge Mogensen.
Wegner’s J16 has proved so popular that it has been in production ever since it first came on the market.
