Original recipe makes 1 - 9x13 inch pan 2 x large onions, cut into thin stripes 1 x lots of filets of anchovis 6 x potatoes, peeled and cut into strips / or sliced 1 x 1/2 cups single cream, or more if you like 4 x tablespoons dry bread crumbs to mix with melted butter
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread a layer of potatoes either chip cut or slice, add a layer of sliced onions evenly onto the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Evenly distribute anchovies on top of the potatoes and onions. Place potatoes on top of the anchovies, add some onion slices then pour in single cream.
Mix bread crumbs with the melted butter, distribute these over top of the pota potatoes. Place onto a baking sheet, cover the dish to catch any cream possibly bubbling over. Bake in preheated oven until the potatoes have softened, the cream has reduced, and the dish has turned deep golden brown, about 45 minutes. Mmmmmmmmm – so simple and yet so delicious!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!
