The iconic CH24 Wishbone chair in oak, designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1949, holds a special place in the world of modern Scandinavian design. Also known as the Y Chair, it draws its inspiration from antique Chinese armchairs. With its rounded top rail and Y-shaped support, the lightweight Wishbone chair is comfortable enough for living and working spaces alike. The paper cord seat was originally used as a substitute material due to post-WWII resource scarcity. Wegner liked it so much, that he ended up keeping it. It is extremely durable, lasting for approximately 50 years before needing to be rewoven. The CH24 was designed exclusively for producer Carl Hansen & Søn as one of nine commissioned pieces. It has been a bestseller since its release.
